We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
The YouTube Over the Top Engineering team is responsible for several major premium sports and TV products on YouTube, including YouTube TV, Primetime Channels, Movies & Shows, and Live Sports.

Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
- 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience coding with a general purpose programming language (C/C++).
- Experience with distributed database management, and applications or services for data analysis, visualization, exploration, and management.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Experience with back-end infrastructure.
- Experience developing web-based applications.

Responsibilities
- Own and drive projects that deliver the highest quality TV services to power YouTube TV, Primetime Channels, and other products.
- Coach and mentor team members, providing guidance and support in their technical work, establishing the engineering excellence standards, defining the team technology roadmap, and driving the execution of the team's OKRs.
- Design and implement solutions for the team to address increasingly complex requirements and scale, providing support and infrastructure to multiple premium products in the space, with focus on quality, reliability, and efficiency.
- Improve service reliability and robustness through tooling and automation which directly impacts the quality of the user experience of our products.
- Help evolve the YouTube data models to support the complexities of TV metadata.
