POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are searching for a Manager, Electrical System Architecture . As a leader in the vehicle electrical engineering organization, you will be responsible for leading and growing the technical team integrating cutting-edge powertrain electronics, FCEV/EV architecture, and vehicle systems. The Manager, Electrical System Architecture will have strategic design influence on features and technology that will set Hyzon Motors’ vehicles apart from our competitors. You will lead a team that develops and maintains a vehicle electrical architecture that evolves based on feature development requests, system-based design, functional system diagrams, functional decomposition, feature partitioning, and tracking deliverables to target.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Define, develop, and maintain a flexible, global electrical FCEV architecture that can adapt to different base vehicle platforms and applications.
  2. Define, develop, and maintain best practices, processes, and tools for electrical system engineering to be used across a global organization.
  3. Develop and enhance electrical system and feature requirements through collaboration with a global engineering and customer team, product benchmarking, and input from industry standards.
  4. Manage and lead system engineers developing vehicle-level requirements and use-cases into electrical system-level and component-level requirements.
  5. Work with manufacturing and service teams to ensure architecture and systems consider manufacturability, configurability, and serviceability.
  6. Lead design analysis on components, vehicle systems, and architectures to verify new requirements can be achieved.
  7. Lead design reviews, safety analyses, and develop DFMEAs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with Controls experience.
  2. At least 7 years of experience in vehicle electrical engineering or similar fields with 5 years managing engineers as their direct supervisor.
  3. Significant experience writing system requirements and functional decomposition of high-level requirements.
  4. Demonstrated technical leadership and organization skills.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems.
  7. Demonstrated teamwork skills, especially cross-functional collaboration.
  8. Providing clarity to the team in a high-paced environment, making decisions, setting and meeting appropriate deadlines.
  9. Ability to motivate the team to achieve challenging goals in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  10. Knowledge of functional safety and electrical safety standards (e.g., ISO26262).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Electric Vehicle development experience.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in vehicle electrical engineering or similar fields with 5 years managing engineers as their direct supervisor.
  3. Good working knowledge of electronic components and communication protocols (CAN, J1939, Ethernet).
  4. Experience using Vector CAN tools including CANalyzer.
  5. Experience with Model Based Embedded System design, using Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow, and other relevant development design tools.
  6. Understanding of commercial trucking and their components.
  7. Previous experience with engineering quality processes (Six Sigma, 8D, CPK, Ishikawa, Kepner-Tregoe, and Safety engineering / DFMEA is preferred).
