Tasks

1. Assign engineering projects to engineers or other technical workers
2. Direct and control daily operations
3. Plan and control budget and expenditures
4. Provide detailed information and guidance to clients on project analysis and design
5. Establish and implement policies and procedures for engineering work
6. Evaluate technical designs and engineering work
7. Oversee the preparation of reports
8. Advise senior management
9. Lead and instruct groups
10. Conduct performance reviews
11. Ensure adherence to government regulations
12. Knowledge of licensing regulations
13. Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions
14. Allocate material, human, and financial resources to implement organizational policies and programs
15. Establish objectives for the organization and formulate or approve policies and programs
16. Select middle managers, directors or other executive staff; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions
17. Co-ordinate the work of regions, divisions or departments
18. Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions
19. Create three-dimensional (3-D) models with computer-aided design (CAD)
