Verisign is looking to hire a research programmer who loves technology and is always curious to know what's going on in the internet world. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research, publishing research papers including measurement studies, contributing to developing IETF standards, developing innovative proof-of-concept applications using the latest open-source technologies, and contributing to the open-source community. You will contribute to research towards Post-Quantum DNS algorithms, new use cases for DNS domains e.g. web3 applications and DNS encryption, and represent Verisign at external events and conferences.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop 'Proof of concept' software applications based on research findings and contribute to the open-source community.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on software application design, development, and technology assessment.
- Work with stakeholders to define requirements specifications. Participate in requirements gathering, design, code, and test plan reviews.
- Collaborate on authoring research papers, blogs, Internet standards, and patent filings driven by research findings.
Requirements include:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field preferred.
- 8+ years of Software development experience.
- Advanced experience working in Linux, Software Design Patterns, Data Structures, DevOps, C/C++, Java.
- Experience with DNS, DNSSEC, TLS, HTTPS, Ethereum, Bitcoin preferred.
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule.
The pay range is $120,500 - $163,100. The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
