The Senior Network Engineer designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. The Senior Network Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering and operational support for Humana's enterprise network which spans across multiple lines of business from government, retail clinics and pharmacies, distribution centers to the traditional corporate campus and datacenters. The primary responsibility of the Senior Network Engineer will be to provide the highest quality network infrastructure environment support which includes management and troubleshooting of network solutions including routers, firewalls, switches, appliances, and cloud native network and security solutions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate network solutions (routers, firewalls, switches, cloud networking) in the cloud and in on premise datacenters with a focus on reliability, throughput, scalability, and security which will help us scale with the needs of the business.
- Monitor and tune network infrastructure to identify and eliminate issues and potential bottlenecks.
- Provide a level of escalation in response to incidents/requests regarding network performance and configuration, including off hours escalations.
- Maintain network documentation, run-books, diagrams, and network assets in the configuration management database.
- Develop and continually improve guidelines and procedures related to Network management including process and efficiency improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience designing, deploying, maintaining, and improving wired, wireless, and complex High Availability Data Center Networks, Hybrid and Multi cloud Networks.
- Cloud Platform Expertise with in-depth knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud services, particularly around networking components such as VPCs, Direct Connect, Peering, and Load Balancers.
- Ability to lead and drive incident based calls.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with networking technologies (load balancing, VPN, ACL, NAT, DNS, Netflow).
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with networking routing including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IP Multicast and MPLS.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, StealthWatch, BigPanda is a plus.
- Strong scripting experience: Ansible, Python, Perl, bash, windows scripts (VBS/PowerShell).
- Experience with Terraform, Istio and Kubernetes and similar are bonuses.
- Certifications such as CCNP Data Center/Routing and Switching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with cloud service providers Microsoft Azure, GCP and AWS.
- Familiarity with cloud-native security and network solutions and tools in Azure, AWS and/or Google.
- Knowledge of network performance management solutions to triage and troubleshoot incidents (Splunk, ThousandEyes, Dynatrace).
- Ability to perform, analyze and deduce information from network packet captures using on premise and cloud solutions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience.
Work-At-Home Requirements
- Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$95,300 - $131,200 per year.
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
