Our Multimedia QA team works to ensure multimedia FireOS components - audio, video, and DRM are bug-free on Amazon’s FireTV devices. The team also works on various developer tools and media players to better enable Amazon’s partners in their quest to develop applications for these devices. The ultimate goal is to ensure Amazon’s customers have the best possible multimedia experience across all applications and devices produced by Amazon.

Achieving this means working closely with our external/internal partners and multimedia developers owning audio, video, and DRM components in FireOS. A key element of this work is in testing these applications and components to spot any quality escapes resulting from application or platform changes. For this, we need Software QA Engineers with experience in multimedia.

Software QA Engineers test code at both the user level and API level, both manually and with automated tools. Our Software QA Engineers use black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques; they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests with Python/JavaScript and/or user-level test automation tools.

Software QA Engineers work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementations. They also collaborate with Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests. Software QA Engineers are responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

Key job responsibilities:

As a QA Engineer, you will champion the quality of our features in the development pipeline using both automated and manual tests, reporting and verifying defects, and signing off on features and release candidates. You will own authoring and execution of test plans and test cases. You will have a significant impact on the quality and delivery speed of our software/business, and most importantly our customers. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA to ensure the features we deliver to our customers have a high level of quality. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to propose improvements to our existing processes and automated tools to improve the team’s speed, quality, and efficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
• Experience in manual testing
• Experience in automation testing
• Experience as QA lead on medium to large-sized projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium
• Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality
