Controls Engineer - Highland Park, MI - OnsiteWe are actively hiring a Controls Engineer to support a large Tier 1 automotive supplier for seating that goes into global heavy truck and bus industries! This role is fully onsite.Job Responsibilities:Design, develop, and install new PLC-based control systems.Onsite commissioning of electrical and function validation equipment focusing on I/O checkout, system testing, and start-up support.Maintain and modify Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays and graphics via multiple computer systems, e.g., Citec, FactoryTalk, RS Studio 5000.Analyze, troubleshoot, and develop corrective actions for equipment performance issues.Produce and update documents including work/user instructions, functional specifications, detailed design specifications, electrical and pneumatic schematics, etc.Develop and maintain robotic equipment, e.g., Fanuc, Universal Robots, etc.Deploy and maintain electronic safety systems, e.g., Safety PLCs, Area Scanners, Light curtains, etc.Deploy and maintain error-proofing devices such as Keyence, Cognex, SICK vision systems.Skills & Qualifications:5+ years of professional experience as a Control Engineer within the automotive manufacturing industryBachelors Degree within an engineering discipline. (10+ years of direct experience if no degree completed)Working knowledge of Allen Bradley RSLogix500 / 5000, Factory Talk View Studio; DeviceNet, EthernetIPUnderstand and apply ladder logic principles, control for I/O, ability to understand PLC commands and HMI usage.Demonstrated experience in Electrical Control System Design, PLC programming & troubleshootingDemonstrated use of electrical devices (i.e. proximity switches, load cells, LVDT’s, signal conditioners, etc.)Ability to read and understand technical documents, schematic design specification.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
