Join our mission today.Senior Principal Project Engineer - Optronics (Onsite)Collins Optronics, a division of Collins Aerospace within Raytheon Technologies, located in Carlsbad, CA has more than 25 years of history creating high-performance optical systems. Optronics supplies a complete range of high-quality optical solutions for military and commercial applications including spaceborne lenses, airborne reconnaissance capabilities in optical and mechanical design, optical fabrication, and assembly and test are enhanced by our expertise in precision alignment. Our capabilities and experience have made Collins Aerospace a leading supplier of high-performance optical solutions.What you will do:Lead principal and senior mechanical, optical, and electrical engineers in the design, analysis, and testing of complex opto-mechanical systems and wearable digital displays.Will be the customers’ and program managements technical point of contact for one or more projects of medium to high complexity.Work with the program manager to develop the program execution plan, and will ensure projects remain within budget, on schedule, and meets all customer and derived requirements.Lead proposal efforts in both the optics and digital display domains, coordinating inputs from various project engineers, generating project bids and technical volumes in support of the overall proposal effort.Track, report, and analyze earned value metrics as required to understand program performance and will determine appropriate actions to correct real problems before impacting overall program performance.Report performance to program management, leadership, and the customer as warranted.Report and analyze earned value metrics to track program performance.Support development of the program execution planEnsure projects remain within budget, on schedule, and meet all customer and derived requirements.Travel up to 15%.Qualifications you must have:Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is requiredU.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: .Demonstrated application of integrated project management, technical consistent process, earned value, and risk managements for one or more programs in either an optical or digital display domain.Knowledge of core concepts of opto-mechanical systems and/or digital display systemsComputer skills and the utilization of MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
