Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
  • Experience with GPU/CPU compilers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

The Core ML Foundations Compiler team builds the compiler technology that powers machine learning frameworks at Google including TensorFlow, JAX/XLA, and PyTorch/XLA. The team also builds the MLIR compiler infrastructure and owns the XLA CPU and GPU compilers. While machine learning frameworks typically rely on interpreters for baseline execution, compilers are crucial to achieve performance.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $231,000-$339,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
  • Enhance the CPU and GPU compiler software stacks so that they perform faster and more efficiently on cutting-edge ML workloads.
  • Conduct compiler research and development to push CPU and GPU roofline performance higher using the best innovation from across the compiler organization.
  • Launch new GPU optimizations while supporting open-source performance benchmarks and third-party performance numbers.
  • Support ambitious goals to launch large volumes of Google workloads on GPUs using hardware.
