Senior Python Developer

The Role:

Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Python Developer who will be responsible for designing and architecting high-performance Java-based enterprise systems. They work closely with business stakeholders, software developers, and IT teams to create scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. This role involves defining architecture guidelines, ensuring adherence to best practices, and making technology decisions to align with long-term business objectives.

Location: Hartford CT (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

1. Write production software in Python, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
2. Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices effectively.
3. Develop and support the middle layer of the application to build, test, and deploy RESTful microservices, and create shared service components.
4. Design solutions, write code, test code, and automate testing and deployment.
5. Collaborate with teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and identify potential issues early in the development cycle.
6. Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical solutions that align with business objectives.

Required Skills:

1. 5+ years of experience working as a Python Developer with RESTful API development skills.
2. 2+ years of microservices development experience.
3. Proficient in writing unit tests and using code coverage tools.
4. 2+ years in TypeScript/React JS.
5. Good written, verbal communication, and documentation skills.
6. Familiar with the Agile delivery process.
7. Must be analytical and self-motivated.
8. Work effectively within a global team environment.

The annual salary for this position is between $64,025 - $94,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
