Job Requirements / Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead in the development of key performance indicators (KPI) to support a strong safety culture including risk awareness and Industrial Hygiene quantitative risk assessments.
- Lead risk assessment activities.
- Drive ergonomic team activities and support ergonomic improvements across the facility.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, identify causes and determine accident prevention.
- Implement and maintain IH policies and procedures and prepare annual budget to support IH activities.
- Manage Industrial Hygiene Program including chemical monitoring, asbestos control, noise and hearing conservation programs, Personal Protective Equipment, radiation safety, and associated monitoring, testing, reporting, and documentation associated with OSHA and NRC compliance.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
- Investigate ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos management plans
- Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
- Collect samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection.
- Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysis.
- Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
- Prepare IH test samples for transportation.
- Serve as a site backup to PSM engineers and perform PHA studies as needed to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Science, or Engineering?
- Four (4) plus years of relevant industrial hygiene/safety and health experience.
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA regulations and industry standards such as ACGIH, NIOSH, NFPA, ANSI.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate technical data, test results, and reports.
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes,
- Experience implementing industrial hygiene sampling programs.
- Preferred: ASP, CSP, CIH or willingness to become certified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, twist, turn, grasp and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces and balancing will be required. Occasionally lifting and/or move up to 50 lbs. and the ability to comply with PPE requirements - ability to pass a fittest and wear a respirator is required for certain positions/locations.
