Software Development Manager, Search Builder Technologies

The mission of Search Builder Technologies (SBT) is to enable Amazon builders to successfully experiment and launch new features on the search page while maintaining Amazon customer trust. We work to ensure experimentation is conducted safely and maintains a high customer bar. Our efforts increase trust, transparency, speed, and autonomy for and among builders working in Search.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be part of a small, close-knit team of engineers that are agile, data-driven, and highly collaborative. You should be a well-rounded software engineer, with expertise in building large-scale web applications and/or low-latency services, optimized for performance. You should love challenges, working on large-scale customer-facing projects, creating things, and take great personal pride in building beautiful and functional user interfaces.

Minimum Requirements:

1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience
2. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3. 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
4. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
5. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
6. Experience partnering with product or program management teams
7. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
8. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
