Primary Responsibilities

The position opening for a Senior Structural Engineer offers exciting opportunities in the field of Power Generation and Renewables.
As an HDR Senior Structural Engineer your responsibilities may include:
- Performing detailed structural design, analysis, engineering calculations, and developing construction documents for a variety of reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and steel structures as well as a variety of foundation systems like piles, spread footings, and mat foundations.
- Projects will include new and retrofit power and energy projects (i.e. wind, solar, battery storage, and non-renewable power generation), in addition to industrial, institutional facilities, and a variety of other project types.
- Acting as an Owner’s Engineer for new or retrofit projects.
- Writing/Editing structural specifications.
- Verifying code compliance, quality checks, meeting project schedules and budget.
- Working independently on projects and overseeing the work of junior engineers.
- Using stiffness matrix-based analysis software (i.e. RISA, STAAD, and LPile), hand calculations, as well as current codes and standards to perform both static and dynamic analysis.
- Participating in project site visits in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
- All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
- Experience in design calculations and layouts
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
- Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
