Overhead Line Engineer

Position : Overhead Line Engineer

Location : Phoenix, AZ (REMOTE)

Summary :

• The Overhead Line Engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead electrical transmission and distribution lines
• This role involves ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of power delivery systems while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements
• This position is Remote, with occasional onsite work as needed, in Phoenix, AZ
• Fieldwork may be required, including outdoor site inspections and coordination with construction teams
• Occasional travel may be necessary for project oversight and collaboration with regional teams

Key Responsibilities :

Design and Planning :

• Develop designs for overhead line installations, including routing, material selection, and structural considerations
• Perform load analysis and determine appropriate conductor sizes and types
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of overhead lines with existing infrastructure

Construction and Installation :

• Oversee the construction of overhead lines, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards
• Coordinate with contractors and field teams to manage project timelines and budgets

Maintenance and Inspection :

• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of overhead line infrastructure to identify maintenance needs
• Develop and implement maintenance programs to enhance the reliability and lifespan of overhead lines

Safety and Compliance :

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards
• Promote a culture of safety within the team and during field operations

Technical Support :

• Provide technical support and guidance to field teams during installation and troubleshooting activities
• Participate in the development and review of engineering standards and best practices

Reporting and Documentation :

• Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and progress updates for stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records of engineering designs, inspections, and maintenance activities

Qualifications :

• 5+ years of experience in Overhead Line Engineering or related roles within the power utility industry
• Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PLS-CADD) and familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC)
• Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and teamwork orientation
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent real-world work experience will be considered
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
