CNC Mill and Lathe Machinist

Job Responsibilities

• Lathe machinist (VTL) Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) on 96-inch tables, primarily using Fanuc controls for precision machining
• Perform turning, facing, knurling, threading, and other lathe operations on large workpieces, adhering to tight tolerances
• Inspect finished parts using gauges, micrometers, and calipers to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Program CNC lathes, including setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation to ensure smooth production
• Conduct routine maintenance of VTLs, such as replacing worn tools and cleaning equipment.
• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and adjust settings to maintain production quality

• Mill Machinist Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis mills, with Fanuc and Siemens controls
• Edit CNC programs, setting tool registers, offsets, and conditional switches to meet specific part requirements
• Calculate machining needs using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, and prove part programs before production
• Perform machining operations such as boring, drilling, and facing on metallic parts like castings and forgings
• Verify part dimensions and specifications by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces
• Perform routine mill maintenance, ensuring the machinery operates efficiently and safely

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 3-5 years of CNC machining experience, including both VTL and Mill operation.
• Experience with Fanuc controls
• Ability to perform basic math, geometry, and trigonometry calculations
• Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
