Job Requirements / Description
We are a rapidly growing biotech startup based in Pleasanton CA with the mission to develop next-generation sample preparation tools for genomic applications. We are at an inflection point in bringing this technology to market and we are seeking to expand our engineering team with a Sr. Product/Systems Engineer. As a systems engineer, the successful candidate will:
- Work with a wider engineering and manufacturing teams to drive design and manufacturing product improvements in both existing and future products.
- Utilize data analysis and first principles insights to solve problems with lab work and onsite investigations as needed.
- Troubleshoot and root cause hardware, software and firmware issues and drive solutions.
Education
- MSc or PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or Physics.
- 3+ years experience in biotech, biomedical, semiconductor or similar industries.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Experience with product engineering, reliability engineering, failure analysis, systems test engineering.
- Experience using Linux based operating systems, Python, and C/C++ or equivalent.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition, applied to firmware/software/hardware of connected systems. Thermal, structural and model-based simulation experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with hands-on experience debugging complex systems.
- Demonstrated data analytics and analysis skills.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.
- Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous tasks and challenges.

- A track record of a self-starter who can work collaboratively within a cross-functional team with successful product deliveries.
- Able to comprehend complex data and use it to tackle issues from a system level.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of time management and meeting deadlines.
