The Lead Mechanical Engineer - Flight Test demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all activities related to the mechanical design of pylon, test enabling hardware, and aircraft modification.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Coach less experienced team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in an Engineering position.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours (including 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, nights, weekends, and holidays) when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft including participation in development flight tests.
  • Able to obtain and maintain FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter and NX application.

  • Experience with structural dynamics, loads, and stress analysis.
  • Experience in design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration of structures, low and high-pressure fluid systems, and pneumatic systems in an aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.

The base pay range for this position is $99,900 - $133,200. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 8/27/2024.
