Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Project Engineer at Savannah Tank and Equipment Corporation in Savannah, GA. The Project Engineer will be responsible for following duties on a day-to-day basis:


• Study customer drawings, specifications, and related documentation. Utilize engineering software applications to perform design calculations in order to establish or confirm design parameters and conformance to ASME or API production codes.

• Use analytical skills to estimate project costs in terms of materials and labor, and work with Sales and Estimating Manager to prepare customer quotations.

• Use AutoCAD to create and revise fabrication drawings including general arrangements and detail drawings. Carefully check drawings for accuracy, clarity, and interference prior to submission.

• Use AutoCAD and other design software to program CNC plasma cutting table.

• Create bills of material for manufacturing and assembly, and assist in procurement of required materials to meet customer delivery schedule.

• Assist clients with engineering change orders and help determine the impact of those changes on the customer's cost and delivery schedule.

• Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mathematics, or similar area of study, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least three years' experience in an engineering role with a metal fabrication/ manufacturing company.

• Experience related to metal fabrication processes and welding techniques preferred.

• Working level proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Mechanical aptitude.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

• Strong analytical and technical skills. Must be able to read and understand technical material such as production code manuals and perform complex mathematical calculations.

• Thorough knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Attention to detail and ability to organize and keep detailed records and work papers.

• Self-starter; able to work independently without extensive supervision.
