What you will do

In this vital role you will work with our Research and Development (R&D) Digital Technology and Innovation (DTI) group supporting R&D’s Global Regulatory Affairs & Strategy (GRAAS) function in alignment with our business and DTI strategy. You will be an integral member of a newly formed Agile Product Team that will own Amgen's Structured Content Authoring solution, enabling R&D to redefine common technical document (CTD) authoring and the overall submission processes. You will be collaborating closely with a multi-functional group of stakeholders, data scientists, data engineers, GenAI, and ML engineers to revolutionize the common technical document and overall submission processes. You will deliver AI/ML solutions through collaboration with data scientists on feature extraction, collaboration with data engineers who build reliable data pipelines that support the machine learning lifecycle from model development to consumption, and implementation of MLOps to provide consistent input and output patterns to integrate/consume/reuse models.

  1. Work with Data Scientists to facilitate their statistical analysis and model fine-tuning using test results; train and retrain systems when necessary
  2. Work with Data Scientists to analyze, extract, and engineer common features across use cases; define reusable features in feature tables
  3. Ensure consistent feature engineering between training and model serving
  4. Automate model monitoring, model retrain, model deployment process based on business requirement
  5. Adhere to best practices for coding, testing and designing reusable code/components
  6. Explore new tools and technologies that will help to improve ELT platform performance and machine learning operations
  7. Participate in sprint planning meetings and provide estimations on technical implementation; Collaborate and communicate effectively with the product team

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree
  2. Or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of software engineering experience
  3. OR Associate’s degree and 6 years of software engineering experience
  4. Or High school diploma / GED and 8 years of software engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ability to write robust code in Python, Java or R
  2. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to learn quickly and be detail-oriented
  3. Familiar with PySpark and data processing libraries, machine learning frameworks (like Tensorflow, Keras or PyTorch), and other machine learning libraries
  4. Familiar with Machine Learning life cycle, with knowledge of feature stores, MLflow, model registries, model deployment, model serving, and model monitoring
  5. Experience with machine learning operations
  6. Experience with data modeling for both OLAP and OLTP databases, hands-on experience with SQL, especially SparkSQL performance tuning
  7. Experience with software DevOps CI/CD tools, such GitLab
  8. Experience with container orchestration
  9. Experience with Apache Airflow and Apache Spark
  10. Familiarity with Veeva or other Regulatory platforms in BioPharma
  11. Experience with Pharmaceutical industry, commercial operations
  12. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
