Targeted Years of Experience: 3+ years in RF Design
Responsibilities for the RF Engineer:
• Capacity or Modification list provided to engineer. Based on this list, create the needed polygon for a small cell cluster, search ring for a macro solution, and review the existing site hardware configuration to determine what modifications would be needed to meet the objective.
• Review designs with system performance, and update Atoll with any requested changes. Notify PM of new Nodes or changes created to the design.Create a Fuze project per site and/or node, with specific information that can be given to Telecommunication Real Estate.
• Review Candidates. Work directly with RE on prioritizing candidates, and attend necessary implementation meetings prior to site walk.
• Attend the site walk on the best candidate, and finalize all details.
• Complete as-needed tasks in Fuze under Candidate Selection.
• Finalize Modification and Carrier Add Designs.
• Complete as-needed tasks under RFDS Selection including adding the final design.
• Staying Compliant: Atoll final Updates/911 Submission/Regulatory Submissions: Complete outstanding regulatory items and documents as needed. Learn how to use RAVE and IXUS, or knowledge of RF Safety tools. Able to read and understand third-party EME studies. Work on Land Lord Letters.
• Assign Cell ID and PCIs for the macro/small cells, and enter in Atoll, and create CQ for building the site using internal tools.
• Submitting E911: check the accuracy of Atoll prior to submitting and following up on TVW creation and checking internal CART tool to ensure Phase 2 E911 is setup correctly.
• Working with the performance team to understand their area if there are design restrictions on the loading or rent increases.
• Atoll daily use to create new builds and modifications to existing cell sites. Along with updating the sites with the correct translations, power settings, equipment, and activating when the site comes on air.
• Review the 48-hour milestone status when the As Built data is different from the Design (reviewing closeout packages). Work with Construction if huge discrepancies exist.
• Activate in all Tools as needed especially in Atoll.
• Working with project management, construction, and real estate on a daily basis to keep projects going if problems or questions need to be resolved.
Qualifications for the RF Engineer: :
• Atoll experience - Must know how to create new sites, copy old sites, and add carriers. Understand the differences in the tables.
• RF design experience in Macro Mods, Initial Builds for Small Cells and Macros.
• C-Band design experience.
• Must have a good understanding in FCC compliance standards and follow our steps in staying compliant will all RF designs and regulatory submissions.
Desired Skills for the RF Engineer:
• Highly recommended to have some experience with Telecommunication tools: Fuze SPM, Conquest for the RF portion of the CQ, Fuze Planning/Canvas, and Fuze Reporting.
• IXUS RF Safety Software or other EME reporting tools.
• MapInfo or ArcGIS mapping tools for presentations.
• Understanding of 5G C-Band spectrum
Education Desired for the RF Engineer:
BS Degree or equivalent work experience in RF Engineering.
