We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team of engineers and data analysts focused on designing, creating, and delivering data solutions as part of our state-of-the-art cloud based products. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a world-class solution to help our higher education clients solve challenging problems through data.

This position will ideally be based in Richmond, VA or Washington, D.C.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for translating functional requirements and processes into scaled solutions through logical implementation of code (e.g., SQL, Python).
  2. Responsible for data modeling and schema design that will range across multiple business domains within higher education.
  3. Partner with multiple stakeholders including clients, new product development, and BI engineers to develop scalable standard schemas.
  4. Work with clients to research and conduct business information flow studies.
  5. Codify high-performing SQL for efficient data transformation.
  6. Coordinate work with external teams to ensure a smooth development process.
  7. Support operations by identifying, researching, and resolving performance and production issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  2. Experience working with relational or multi-dimensional databases, including statistical and business intelligence solutions.
  3. Demonstrated mastery in database concepts through technically accurate representation of functionally meaningful data.
  4. Foundational knowledge and eagerness to expand skills in SQL.
  5. Proven ability to work with stakeholders to define requirements and a clear understanding of data-generative processes.
  6. Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ideal Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in an AGILE environment.
  2. Proven ability to synthesize complex topics into intuitive and generalizable taxonomies.
  3. Experience in SFTP automation.
  4. Experience in Python scripting.
  5. Familiar with Snowflake database.

Compensation:

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $60,000 - $72,500 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location.
