Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing and award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are heavily involved in Welborne Garden Village, a new generation sustainable garden village in Hampshire; a community for 15,000 people to live, work and play, consisting of connected and energy efficient homes, integrated with extensive publicly accessible green spaces.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer role to support the management of an expanding Civil Engineering team based at the on-site office at Welborne.
Minimum Requirements:
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) (or working towards) with the Institution of Civil Engineers
- A Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
- 5+ years’ consultancy experience
- Experience working with local authorities, developers and architects on civil engineering aspects of residential, commercial and retirement/care schemes
- Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge
- Civil Engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works, and highways elements

- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work
- Consideration and management of safety in design for projects aspects you are designing

- Identify the limits of your personal knowledge and skills
- Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes
- Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects, and local authorities
- Undertake and manage team resource for design work for drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations, and the SuDS Manual
- Undertake and manage team resource for on and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets
- Be responsible for writing fee proposals
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software
- Have knowledge of and willing to learn other engineering software
- Reviewing of junior team members' reports, design and drawing work
- Attend client meetings and site visits
- Co-operate with the Quality Management System (QMS) through undertaking administrative activities
- Mentoring and training of junior staff
- Support our regional offices and other departments through knowledge sharing
