Job Summary
Our nationwide traffic and transportation engineering team is continually growing, and we are currently seeking an experienced, creative, and detail-oriented Senior Traffic Engineer who is eager to work on a wide variety of transportation projects for both private and public sector clients including traffic impact analysis, traffic simulation/modeling, neighborhood transportation and parking studies, multimodal planning and analyses, complete streets design, traffic management plans, and safety studies. Work may also include maintaining operations, traffic and pedestrian flow, and excellent transportation-related customer service during multiple phases of large-scale construction. The successful candidate will lead projects and tasks from initiation to completion, train junior staff, and contribute to business development and marketing activities such as writing proposals and attending industry events.
Preference will be given to candidates interested in our New York City office.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate must be able to work collaboratively with staff across multiple offices, manage priorities, think creatively.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation engineering
  • 7-12 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning, preferably in the NYC Metro area
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) in any state
  • High proficiency in Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and/or Vissim
  • High proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing transportation projects, including management of staff, budgets, and clients, and anticipating/representing client needs and interests
  • Ability to interpret/synthesize data of disparate sources into a cohesive singular perspective
  • Proficiency with using standard transportation technical manuals and procedures including the MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM, CEQR Technical Manual
  • Ability to commute to the office at least three days per week
  • Authorization to work in the US

Sam Schwartz, a TYLin Company, is committed to Pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range for this position $87,800- $131,600 annually.
