JAVA DEVELOPER

The Sr. Application developer’s primary role will be to manage the current MassHealth applications and work on AWS migration in conjunction with the Shared Applications Architect and Release Management teams. MassHealth is looking for motivated individuals that seek-out public service as an opportunity to expand their knowledge, gain valuable experience, and give back to the community. This position is anticipated to be a minimum six-month engagement with the possibility of being extended for a longer term.

Job Requirements: (Education and Experience)

1. Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or a related field or relevant work experience
2. 8+ years’ experience programming in a team environment.
3. Strong working knowledge and experience in programming with Oracle and Java/J2EE technologies.
4. Ability to design SQL databases given applications demands and data models
5. Working knowledge and experience of application servers, ideally WebLogic and AWS
6. Proven ability to write well-designed, efficient, and testable code
7. Experience supporting a test-driven development culture
8. Knowledge and experience working with information and security architectures
9. Experience programming in Agile methodologies

Qualifications: (Special skill sets, Certifications)

1. Experience in building high-quality applications by creating a well-designed architecture, writing clean code and implementing industry standards, design concepts and design patterns.
2. Must have successfully delivered complex applications by collaborating with non-technical team members including quality assurance, business analysts, release engineers and project managers.
3. Expert knowledge of Java/J2EE Stack including Apache, Tomcat, Linux
4. Expert level knowledge on developing multi-tier enterprise level web based applications using J2EE technologies, Hibernate, Spring and XML/XSLT and Multi-threading concepts
5. Expert knowledge of PHP, AJAX, Spring Boot, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery2.x/3.0, CSS and Angular JS (2.0 or higher) or Node JS
6. Expert knowledge in Web Services (Restful and SOAP) and security
7. Healthcare standards such as CCD/C-CDA, HL7, FHIR etc. is preferred
8. Knowledge on technologies such as ElasticSearch, Kibana, Logstash and other big data concepts
9. Hands-on experience working with AWS core services and deploying cloud-based solutions using AWS services such as VPCs, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Glue, IAM, SQS, CloudWatch, Route53, ALB Code Pipeline etc.
10. Ability to mentor and lead technical team members responsibly
11. Ability to handle aggressive deadlines with agility and results driven approach
12. Ability to translate, statistically analyze data and effectively report problems through written and /or graphic format
13. Ability to independently determine technical solutions including test documentation
14. Applies advanced knowledge of design methodologies
15. Exhibit DevOps Mindset where team is accountable for applications/project from inception to sunset
16. Knowledge and understanding of performance testing and tuning of applications
17. Strong team player with good communication skills
18. .Net design and development experience a plus.
