Prime Air's Global Commodity Manager plays an important role in ensuring that their respective commodity and suppliers meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to satisfy its internal Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, and Hardware Engineering customers. This candidate will work with multiple business functions in a team environment.
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Key job responsibilities:
- Managing overall supplier relationships including supply chain commodity strategy, sourcing, supplier performance, capability, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, cost, and quality improvements.
- Working with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements ensuring sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost, and business goals.
- Developing efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.
- Guiding the purchasing and planning teams by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply and/or quality issues.
- Aligning supplier strategies to Robotics goals for sustaining production and new product.
- Development and execution of global commodity strategies that align business requirements with supplier capabilities.
- Maintaining monthly supplier scorecards and conducting quarterly executive business reviews.
This position is either Austin or Seattle based and will require 5 days a week in the office work schedule; this position may have up to 25% travel per month.
A day in the life:
The GCM will work with a cross-functional team including representation from Manufacturing Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Advance Quality Engineering, Program Management, Finance, and Legal. The GCM in this role will own and cultivate relationships with a broad range of suppliers focused on Hardware components used in conjunction with robotic drive units and work cells to move packages efficiently within Amazon FC's. The GCM will also support ad-hoc sourcing requests on other commodities within the team (Metals, Castings & Plastic Components).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated supply chain, procurement, and/or contract management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in supply chain, commodity, and supplier management in a high volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with a global supply base of high-volume hardware, metal, casting, and plastic component suppliers, raw materials management, and other related activities.
• Review and understand engineering design documents for mechanical components.
• Experience developing, leading, and executing global commodity strategies focused on supplier cost, risk, and lead time reduction strategies.
• Experience with contract negotiation and execution with high volume domestic and internationally based suppliers.
• Technical, analytical, and management skills to lead RFQs, supplier selection, supplier capacity planning, and supplier risk identification/mitigation in NPI programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Industrial or Operations Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Experience working with mechanical components and associated commodities.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and ERP/PLM.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $153,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
