The Lead Modular Process Engineer will support different facets of the modular business including sales support, process design, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, and delivery of prefabricated Modular Process Plants of various UOP technologies. This role would also support the development and improvement of standards, tools, and technology for modular equipment offerings. The role may also be expected to support UOP Sch A process technology efforts as demand might dictate.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide Process Engineering expertise throughout the duration of EQUIPMENT projects, including Proposal phase designs, Basic Engineering, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication.
• Assigned projects will involve one or more related refinery processes and technologies and will include new unit designs and revamps.
• Perform basic engineering design including process selection, simulation, and equipment sizing.
• Perform hydraulics and other calculations for sizing of equipment, control valves, and piping.
• Generate documents for design projects including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Project & Equipment Specifications and inputs required for FEED, and Detailed Engineering
• Develop basic instrumentation and control philosophy specifications.
• Participate in the development and review of basic plant and equipment layout / general arrangement and modular 3-D models.
• Contribute to processes related to sub-vendors such as Technical Bid Evaluation and Design Progress Review.
• Contribute as a process engineer in internal and external HAZOP studies of Honeywell UOP-delivered modular process plants.
• Contribute as a process engineer to interdisciplinary check of defined project deliverables.
• Complete assigned project work per the agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
• Keep the Project Manager informed of progress on assigned tasks. Bring any problems related to scope, schedule, and cost to the Project Manager’s and the Team’s notice as early as possible and work towards resolving such issues.
• Attend, lead, and contribute to project team meetings and customer meetings as assigned and agreed with the Project Manager.
• Adhere to current design practices, tools, technical standards, policies, and procedures for the completion of assigned tasks
• Document all calculations and work processes in a clear, concise format.
• Work with Sales Support to produce optimized process solutions in both the budgetary and fixed proposal phases that can be smoothly handed off for project execution.
• Perform Customer Specifications Review and contribute to the development of Exceptions & Clarifications Communication when required on Fixed Price Proposals.
• Participate in new technology development/infrastructure teams when assigned.
• Keep up to date with customer needs and technologies within assigned areas.
• Recommend and participate in efforts for the improvement of technology, design tools, work processes & procedures.
• Interact closely with Technology Experts, Process Specialists, Skills Specialists (Static, Rotary, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Structural, Metallurgy, etc.), and Technical Services to come up with solutions to complex problems.
• Provide technical leadership, set up infrastructure, and guidelines for Modular process engineering.
• Provide mentoring to the modular process team.
• Compliance to Honeywell Policies including HS&E, HR, Legal Compliance, Intellectual Property Protection, Integrity & Codes of Conduct
YOU MUST HAVE
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years in Refining or Petrochemical Processes
WE VALUE
• Detailed Engineering or EPC work experience
• Experience in commissioning, startup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of refinery plants would be a plus
• Expertise in aspects of Process Engineering such as Process Simulation, Generation of PFD, P&ID & Equipment Specs, Hydraulic Calculation, Process Control, Project Documentation, etc.
• Experience working with Industrial Codes and Standards
• Familiar with Basic and Detailed Engineering work processes and inter-discipline interactions
• Knowledge of UOP Schedule A and Schedule A work process
