Position Summary:
The EES Software Engineer is responsible for managing the in-house equipment control software suite for SPE's battery manufacturing system. Those in this role are responsible for monitoring the operational status of equipment by collecting sensor data and identifying abnormal conditions, then utilize conditional data to ensure optimal equipment operation. If you plan to enter this field, you need to have strong communication skills and knowledge of battery manufacturing equipment. Additionally, proficiency in both Korean and English is required to communicate with the EES System Engineer in Korea and collaborate with on-site equipment technicians.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Analyze, design, and develop system improvement requests for FDC, APC, EMS, and EGIS; write, test, and maintain high-quality code; and utilize relevant programming languages and tools.
- Operate and support four major systems (FDC, APC, EMS, EGIS); provide technical support and address software issues; and collaborate with end-users and IT support teams for problem resolution.
- Monitor critical incidents, identify improvement points, and optimize EES system software for efficiency and responsiveness; conduct periodic inspections and manage AMS status.
- Create and maintain comprehensive, clear, and accurate documentation for software design, coding, and testing; ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Provide EES system training to equipment engineers; work closely with equipment engineers, system architects, and other stakeholders for seamless software integration.
- Conduct usability testing, gather feedback, and implement iterative improvements to enhance system performance and user experience.
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
- A minimum of 1 year coding/development experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends and patterns, and make data-driven decisions to optimize manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong technical aptitude with a solid understanding of automation technologies, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, HMI (Human Machine Interface) software, and other relevant hardware and software used in automated manufacturing
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years coding/development experience
- Proven proficiency in continuous improvement systems and hands-on experience in lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Familiarity with methods and implementations to actively support world-class manufacturing practices.
- Extensive knowledge of data analysis using Spotfire, BI, MS Excel, or other database applications.
- Experience or knowledge with large production lines, PFMEA, and process control.
- Excellent communication skills encompassing speaking, writing, and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated critical and analytical thinking skills to navigate complex problems.
