Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Quality Engineer who will play a pivotal role in developing and producing world-class electronic devices. In this highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our products and leave a lasting footprint. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving processes and products, has a keen attention to detail, and brings extensive experience in consumer electronics production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with multi-functional teams to evaluate design and processes from the concept phase through mass production.
    • Serve as a project manager to lead quality engineering efforts at supplier locations.
  • Quality Assurance Across All Stages:
  • Ensure product quality at every stage of the implementation cycle, including preparing contract manufacturers and overseeing prototyping phases.
  • Work with internal and external groups to define quality expectations and ensure appropriate assurance techniques are used.
  • Advanced Quality Control Tools Development:
  • Develop and implement cutting-edge quality inspection tools to assess cosmetic and dimensional characteristics of parts.
  • Utilize statistical tools and data analysis to monitor quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Product Quality Planning:
  • Create a comprehensive Product Quality Plan (PQP) in collaboration with the engineering and development teams.
  • Establish audit procedures appropriate to programs and suppliers to ensure consistency with AURA Devices' quality standards.
  • Documentation and Testing Protocols:
  • Develop detailed documentation for incoming component inspections and final product testing procedures.
  • Ensure all quality documentation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Final Quality Assurance Execution:
  • Develop, document, optimize, and execute Final Quality Assurance (FQA) checks during new product development and prior to mass production.
  • Lead FQA activities to identify and address potential quality issues before product launch.
  • Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
  • Compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process and part specifications.
  • Drive corrective actions collaboratively with internal and external team members to eliminate root causes of quality problems.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing process.
  • Supplier Quality Management:
  • Organize and oversee quality control processes at supplier facilities to ensure components meet AURA Devices' quality standards.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manufacturing Process Optimization:
  • Develop measurement technologies, control strategies, information systems, and manufacturing methods to achieve ambitious specifications at mass production scale.
  • Implement process control techniques to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • International Collaboration and Travel:
  • Collaborate with international suppliers and manufacturers, particularly in China and Southeast Asia.
  • Travel internationally up to 25% of the time to oversee supplier quality control and address manufacturing issues on-site.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or quality control, with a focus on electronic device manufacturing.
    • Experience in high-volume manufacturing sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive, or medical devices is highly desirable.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in mechanical parts processing, plastic injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of technical systems related to electronics and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with the development and evaluation of measurement systems.
  • Quality Control Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control methods, statistical analysis, and experimental design methods.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Experience developing process quality plans, conducting supplier quality audits, and driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts.
  • Supplier and Manufacturing Experience:
  • Proven experience working with suppliers and manufacturers in China and Southeast Asia.
  • Ability to organize and manage quality control at supplier facilities.
  • Working knowledge of supplier management and general manufacturing operations.
  • Language Skills:
  • Proficiency in English at B2 level or higher.
  • Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
  • Communication and Leadership Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities:
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis, and statistical analytical tools.
  • Ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies in product failures and implement effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail:
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to balance high-quality standards with scalable yields.
  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar).
  • Travel Flexibility:
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
