We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our team specializing in the design and development of electro-mechanical laboratory soil testing equipment. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design process, from conceptualization to production, ensuring robust, reliable, and efficient equipment suitable for rigorous soil testing applications. This role requires mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to effectively integrate sensors, actuators, control systems, and mechanical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical systems for laboratory soil testing equipment, ensuring integration of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for production, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, oversee prototype assembly, and provide technical guidance and support throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, performance analysis, and testing to optimize design concepts for reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts, source required components, monitor production schedules, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Continuously improve existing designs and processes based on feedback, performance data, and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in designing electro-mechanical systems, preferably in laboratory equipment or related industries.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and familiarity with simulation tools for mechanical and electrical systems. The ability to design electronic schematics and PCB layouts with corresponding software (e.g., Altium) is preferred. Design of mechanical frames and components, front panels, specifying applicable motors, gearboxes, sensors and etc.
  • Experience in the field of robotics, automated controls, and industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of principles of PID control, sensors, actuators, control systems, and their integration into mechanical designs.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and ability to collaborate effectively with electrical engineers.
  • Experience in preparing detailed engineering documentation and managing the production process with external vendors.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, EN, UL), regulations, and best practices related to electro-mechanical equipment design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Past exposure to soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of software programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, assembly language) for embedded systems and data analysis.
  • FSM, ISR, DAC and ADC interfacing experience.
  • Experience with 8051, Arm, ESP or RP2040 hardware.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and cost estimation.

Pay: $126,191.00 - $129,490.00 per year
