Get To Know The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team at GXS Bank. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microservices based and cloud-based architecture, agile development model, extensive experience in financial technology, and a proven track record of building and scaling robust, secure, and high-performance systems. Familiarity with Singapore’s financial regulations and compliance requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute the back-end engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives
  2. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  3. Collaborate with Product Managers and business/operation leads to understand the requirements, break them down to smaller engineering tasks and drive the team to execute and deliver on the requirements
  4. Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance systems
  5. Ensure that the architecture and infrastructure support the needs of a rapidly growing fintech digibank
  6. Understand and highlight the key risks during the software development lifecycle and suggest mitigating measures in a timely manner
  7. Ensure visibility and transparency with stakeholders during the entire SDLC process
  8. Ensure alignment with other digibanks leaders and stakeholders and lead cross-functional and cross-geography team
  9. Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
  10. Implement best practices for performance tuning and load testing
  11. Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data
  12. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards, including PCI DSS, MAS TRM, and ISO 27001
  13. Stay updated on Singapore’s Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) guidelines and regulations, ensuring all back-end systems comply with local financial regulations
  14. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product management, and operations, to deliver seamless and integrated solutions
  15. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, risks, and opportunities
  16. Stay abreast of the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in software development
  17. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team

Key Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  2. 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on back-end development
  3. Proven experience in the fintech industry, particularly within Singapore, is highly desirable
  4. Strong expertise in back-end technologies and programming languages, such as Java, Python, or Go
  5. Experience with databases, both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
  6. Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  7. Deep understanding of microservices architecture and API development
  8. Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills
  9. In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s financial regulations and compliance requirements
  10. Experience with MAS guidelines and regulatory frameworks is desirable
  11. Exceptional leadership and team-building skills
  12. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  13. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  14. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
