The Role

The client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our software platform team as a full-stack engineer specializing in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that support laboratory operations. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in integrating third-party LIMS systems to ensure seamless interoperability and enhanced functionality. As a member of the platform software team, you will work with colleagues across automation, bioinformatics, and laboratory science to create robust systems that streamline laboratory workflows, data management, and reporting. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of our LIMS solutions. Our team culture emphasizes shared responsibility and empathy for our users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement LIMS software applications, modules, and interfaces to meet user needs and enhance laboratory operations.
  • Provide ongoing support for the development of internal LIMS tools, ensuring they meet evolving laboratory requirements and incorporate the latest technologies.
  • Integrate third-party LIMS systems and external software applications to ensure seamless data flow, interoperability, and automation across different platforms.
  • Ensure best practices in software development including version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to software and machine learning model integration.
  • Support and train internal users of our software products alongside team members.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in LIMS and software engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with LIMS systems.
  • Proven experience in Python and the Django framework in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in both supporting the development of LIMS tools and integrating third-party LIMS systems.
  • Familiarity with database technologies and data engineering practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with keen attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with foundational AWS services: S3, RDS, EC2
  • Proficient in containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
