The Lewiston mill is the largest of Clearwater Paper's facilities, producing both paperboard and tissue product, and boasting over 1200 talented employees. What you will do:

The Reliability Engineer will manage assigned projects from concept through start-up, supply continuous in-plant engineering support to normal mill maintenance, and lead RCFA to eliminate equipment reliability issues.

Reliability

  1. Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts. Investigates and analyses relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
  2. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  3. Analyses preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives.
  4. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.

Project and Operations Support

  1. Provides technical assistance to production, reliability and quality groups as needed to solve equipment and process-related problems and develops methods to improve processes.
  2. Works with production and other reliability personnel to develop detailed project scopes.
  3. Manage all phases of assigned projects including:
    1. Evaluation and selection of equipment suppliers and installation contractors.
    2. Maintenance of all drawings of both existing and new equipment.
    3. Supervision of installation and/or repair of equipment.
  4. Optimize manufacturing processes by investigating and eliminating root causes of equipment failures.

Maintenance and Operational Assistance

  1. Provide technical assistance to trouble-shoot equipment and/or operating problems.
  2. Research options and recommend solutions to resolve operating and/or maintenance issues.
  3. Coordinate contractor's activities for contracted-out maintenance work during equipment downtimes.
  4. Provide engineering calculations and design drawings for equipment installed by maintenance crews.
  5. Perform maintenance call-duty. Call out and supervise maintenance crews as required.

Leadership

  1. Communicate environmental/safety issues to management as required.
  2. Assist in the management of the Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs including vibration coverage through the mill, plant tank integrity, pressure vessel integrity, and pre-post failure reports.
  3. Manages capital projects as required.
  4. Facilitate Reliability Steering Teams.

What you will need:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering required.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in project or reliability engineering, maintenance, or operations in the paper industry required.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  4. AutoCAD experience preferred.
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Capable of managing Process Safety Management programs.
  8. Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.)
  9. Knowledgeable with maintenance best practices (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) preferred.
  10. Must be capable of understanding and troubleshooting complex industrial systems and equipment.
  11. Understanding of LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) concepts preferred.
  12. Professional Engineering license preferred.
  13. Basic knowledge of corrosion effects and metallurgy preferred.
