West Point Engineers is looking for a Senior and Midcareer level Electrical Drafter to work with our team of Architects and Engineers and create technical drawings. The primary industry we work in is Federal Government Facilities and Health Care.
Ultimately, you’ll become a valued member of multiple A/E firm project teams and build a resume of numerous project types, including renovations, historic buildings, and new constructions.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with architects and engineers to gather project requirements and designs.
- Research existing as-built drawings for elements to include in new drawings.
- Create drawing sets for projects involving one or more disciplines.
- Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Design diagrams, schematics, tables, schedules, maps, and layouts to illustrate projects.
- Prepare and review rough sketches and review them with the engineering team.
- Review final designs to comply with government agency and commercial standards.
- Prepare drawing submittals to the customer using both electronic (primarily MS Teams) and plotted drawings.
- Review and incorporate customer comments into drawing sets.
Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Drafter/Designer in a similar role.
- Drafters/designers shall be proficient in AutoCAD 2016 or newer.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications.
- Shall be able to work independently from verbal instructions from project managers: engineers, and other more experienced designers. A degree of independent work is expected in at least one drafting discipline.
- Willingness to learn and occasionally provide input outside one’s primary discipline.
- Experience in the facility construction industry.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and multiple discipline project teams.
