Position Summary:
The Product Engineer will be responsible for the independent creation, development, and implementation of a gas heat pump/HVAC unit. This role requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems, product design, and project management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work autonomously while also effectively interfacing with a multinational organization for support and guidance.
Job Functions:
  • Lead the ideation and conceptualization phase for a new gas heat pump/HVAC unit, ensuring alignment with market needs and company goals.
  • Develop detailed designs and prototypes, leveraging advanced engineering tools and techniques to validate concepts.
  • Actively participate in hands-on development and assembly of prototypes and production units including troubleshooting and iterative improvements.
  • Manage the project lifecycle from proof of concept through to production, including timeline management, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  • Apply mechanical and electric engineering principles to design and integrate all internal components as well as an intelligent control systems within the Gas Heat Pump Unit.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes to ensure efficiency, performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Interface with various departments within the multinational organization, including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance, to gather support, feedback, and ensure smooth project progression.
  • Work closely with sales and customer support team to provide technical expertise, product knowledge and overall support during customer engagement.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, test results, and production plans.
  • Oversee the transition from prototype to production, ensuring manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve product design and development processes.
  • Travel Domestically and Internationally up to 25% of the time to collaborate with global teams, visit manufacturing sites, and participate in Industry conferences and meetings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of HVAC systems, particularly gas heat pumps?
  • Strong knowledge of product design principles and methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management practices.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for product design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interfacing with a multinational team.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret technical research and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously on complex projects.
  • Capacity to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product engineering, specifically within the HVAC or related industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD software, thermal dynamics, fluid mechanics, and HVAC systems as well as related electrical components and their design.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects from concept to production.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interface effectively with a multinational organization.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work independently and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse and multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with gas heat pump and HVAC technology.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international HVAC standards and regulations.
  • Previous experience working within a multinational corporation.
