Job Summary

Kenworth’s Zero Emissions Department is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Thermal Management Team. This individual will develop new electric motor cooling solutions that support PACCAR’s lineup of zero emissions vehicles.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Translate vehicle performance and goals into functional concepts utilizing Creo Parametric.
  2. Work closely with simulations experts to develop an effective cooling system.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external partners to analyze and validate designs with FEA, CFD, and durability testing.
  4. Create rapid prototypes to quickly evaluate and/or validate design concepts.
  5. Employ Design for Six Sigma and engineering tools to develop and validate designs.
  6. Manage implementation of product changes by tracking project schedule, budget, and functional requirements throughout the entire life of the project.
  7. Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
  8. Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  9. Travel up to 10%.

Qualifications / Skills

  1. BSME or equivalent engineering degree is required; EIT certification is a plus.
  2. 0-1 years of experience is required. Industry-related background in the design and specification of heavy-duty trucks is a plus.
  3. Extensive 3D modeling software experience required (Creo Parametric specific knowledge is a plus).
  4. Experience in product development and new product implementation desired.
  5. Working knowledge of sheet metal, composite panels, and polymers/elastomers and their manufacturing processes a plus.
  6. Competency in the use of personal computer software including project management tools.
  7. Understanding the use of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques.
  8. Ability to perform in a lean, fast-paced, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present status updates.
  10. Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  11. Ability to work in a team environment.
  12. Candidates should have a willingness to grow personally and professionally and be results-oriented.
