Position Summary & Duties: The Civil Designer II position is a direct-hire position working for HGA at our office in Baton Rouge, LA.
The Civil Designer performs a variety of civil drafting and design duties with minimal supervision. Civil Designer prepares drawings in accordance with the appropriate drafting standards. Prepares drawings from a conceptual layout to detailed finished product. Civil Designer requires a general knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices. Position requires experience in topographic surveys, site design, water and sewer systems, and roadway layout and design. Capable of engineering assignments from education and/or experience but does not have an engineering degree.
CIVIL DESIGNER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce neat, accurate, and legible construction drawings packages according to company procedures and drafting standards with minimal supervision.
- Civil Designer work must be accurate, very thorough and must pay attention to detail.
- Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
- Capable of obtaining accurate field data
- Civil Designer must interpret general design information and calculations.
- Work with all disciplines and with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical school or college is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in civil design and drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Basic knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices.
- Experience with a consulting engineering firm and completion of industrial projects is preferred.
- Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
- Very knowledgeable in developing surface models and drawings using Civil 3D software.
- Must be located within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA.
