Job Purpose
Our Gas Supervisors at National Grid play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our gas operations. These positions are responsible for the safety and security of our various gas distribution systems and ensure National Grid complies with safety standards, policies, and processes to minimize risk for all staff.
Key Accountabilities - Damage Prevention Supervisor
- Supervise a union workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out efficiently.
- Ensure supervised team complies with safety standards, policies, and processes to maintain a safe working environment.
- Build good working relationships with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Monitor performance of allocated staff, including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and work standards.
- Promote and implement best practices to achieve high productivity and low costs.
Customer Meter Services Supervisor
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of natural gas customers' premises and the Company's distribution system.
- Monitor and enforce work rules, standards, and procedures for emergency response and other scheduled work.
- Respond to natural gas emergencies and coordinate with other emergency response personnel and agencies.
- Support achievement of operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, and safety.
- Conduct field inspections to ensure safe working conditions are maintained.
Construction & Maintenance Supervisor
- Support the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission system.
- Authorize permission documents and undertake the role of Site Controller.
- Identify the need to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment, including preparation of business cases.
- Act as onsite incident supervisor during planned and emergency situations.
- Manage allocated resources to produce cost-effective, customer-focused, and efficient service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred along with related operations work experience, including supervision of others.
- 3-8 years of construction experience preferred; otherwise, 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role required.
- Prior leadership experience with a focus on Construction, Field Operations, or Customer Field Services preferred.
- Technical knowledge of distribution systems, engineering, construction, and/or maintenance practices preferred.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to make persuasive presentations.
- Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using MS Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver's License required with a safe driving history.
- Participate in on-call or after-hour supervisory duties.
More Information
Salary: $101,000 - $130,000
