Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer - DevOps . This position will be located in Dulles, VA and will support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. As a member of the Platform scrum team, you will engineer solutions that are aimed at (1) streamlining software development processes through automation, (2) identifying and implementing tools for cybersecure software development and automated deployments, and (3) providing detailed process documentation. This Systems Engineer will also be the EOL/EOS Process Lead for the ground software system. The software dependency list is comprised of all third party, COTS/GOTS, open-source software and associated version number incorporated into the ground software.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Understanding the latest industry methodologies and tools for Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Designing and guiding the implementation of new systems and process improvements
  • Maintaining documentation on system administration standards, best practices, and quality improvements, ensuring that Systems Administration processes, procedures, and documentation remain up-to-date and consistent with current technologies
  • In the role of EOL/EOS Process Lead, the candidate will manage all aspects (creation, maintenance, process, products, etc.) of the ground system software dependencies list, coordinating with the Chief SW Engineer, Chief Architect, Confirmation Management, Software Development, DevOps and Cyber. Work with other development scrum to examine upgrade impacts and estimate schedule and cost of upgrade
  • Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks
  • Raising schedule delays and problems as they occur to get blockers and impediments removed as quickly as possible

To Be Successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to work through issues and obstacles to include developing alternate approaches or solutions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems thinking mindset
  • Strong DevOps understanding and Agile familiarization
  • Strong MBSE experience

This position can be filled at the Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 3 years of experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years with a PhD. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and architectures (OpenStack, VMWare, AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Bamboo)
  • Experience with Software Source Code Management tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab)

Sr. Principal Engineer

  • A minimum of 9 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years with a PhD. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and architectures (OpenStack, VMWare, AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Bamboo)
  • Experience with Software Source Code Management tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Python, Java, Bash, JavaScript)
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, AWS CloudFormation)
  • Experience using DOORS Requirements Management Database and/or Cameo Architecture Modelling Software
  • Experience with a CMDB such as ServiceNow, Alloy Navigator, I-doit, Insight for Jira
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership and teamwork capability, interpersonal communication skills and activities (professional/community/extracurricular) and an enthusiastic go getter attitude
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers
  • Familiarity with Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and cybersecurity vulnerability reports/reporting tools

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
