Job Description

Steel Thread Software, Inc. has an URGENT need for a highly skilled and innovative DevOps Subject Matter Expert who is looking to join a fast-paced start-up environment working with both commercial and Government clients. DevOps Subject Matter Experts (SME) ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of all production systems and services while employing DevOps best practices. SMEs are cross-functional experts who are primarily charged with facilitating organizational collaboration, establishing and enforcing enterprise-wide processes and seeking opportunities for improvements in delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation of complex solutions by making information technology/information management related recommendations.
  2. Advise on organizational improvements, optimization, or maintenance efforts in the following specialties: information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, risk management, software life-cycle management and development methodologies, visual design, information architecture, copywriting, and content management.
  3. Lead engagement with software developers and infrastructure engineers to integrate software development and delivery from inception to full operation, ensuring robust released software and systems, typically for high traffic services or key infrastructure.
  4. Analyze technical requirements of applications to ensure systems provide required availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency.
  5. Develop the technical vision for fault tolerance, performance enhancement, and configuration management of applications, and may lead in implementation.
  6. Advise infrastructure team regarding current and future systems needs and repercussions of infrastructure changes.
  7. Participate in the development of infrastructure and platform roadmaps.
  8. Lead the release of new software and systems, typically for high traffic services or key infrastructure.

Key Skills:

  1. In-depth knowledge of a particular area, such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, Automated Quality Testing, Software Configuration Management, and Automated Platform provisioning.
  2. Application of principles, methods, and knowledge of IT service management and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and implement the ITIL change control standards and to incorporate them into policy and procedures.
  3. Knowledge of, and administration experience with Configuration Management tools such as IBM Rational ClearCase, ClearQuest, Subversion, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  4. Expert proficiency in Linux system administration.
  5. Expert proficiency in deploying Cloud-based infrastructure. Expert proficiency in modern SCM packages (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
  6. Advanced to Expert proficiency in programming languages (Java, Ruby, C/C++, Node.JS, etc.), database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, Redis), and networking protocols used for the implementation of supported systems.
  7. 5 or more years of progressively complex related experience.
  8. Experience working at the highest levels of large organizations; C-level reporting, large meeting facilitation, etc.

Requirements:
• 5+ years of professional experience in an information technology, information management, or a related field.
