By providing a new level of predictable performance, efficiency, and sustainability Ampere is working with leading cloud suppliers and a growing partner ecosystem to deliver cloud instances, servers and embedded/edge products that can handle the compute demands of today and tomorrow.

Join us at Ampere and work alongside a passionate and growing team — we’d love to have you apply. Come invent the future with us.

About the role:
  • Senior Principal Engineer is a senior technical role. Candidates are expected to bring a strong technical background with depth in at least one area of CPU design as well as experience in other units or design disciplines.
  • This role requires strong leadership skills with experience leading small teams to achieve aggressive technical goals.
  • You must be adept at working collaboratively with leaders from other groups including architecture, design verification, and silicon engineering.
  • We highly value and fiercely protect our culture. We have built a highly collaborative and supportive team. We love working together! We are looking for designers who share our passion for a great working environment and who are willing to invest in the interpersonal care needed to maintain a close-knit design team.

What you’ll achieve:
  • We believe the best technical leaders are those who stay grounded in design by spending the majority of their time making individual technical contributions.
  • You can expect to own and lead feature development in all phases of design from initial definition through implementation in system verilog.
  • Candidates are expected to have a solid understanding of design verification concepts and an ability to partner with the DV team to create robust and well-verified designs.
  • Equally important is an understanding of physical design and the ability to partner with the silicon engineering team to create designs that are highly optimized for high speed, low power, and area efficiency.

About you:
  • MSEE (or equivalent) in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 8+ years of semiconductor design experience.
  • Experience with CPU microarchitecture, logic and RTL design implemented with low power design techniques.
  • Expert knowledge of current high-speed logic design techniques, including ability to foresee physical implementation and timing challenges during early development.
  • High competence in digital design/hardware design languages, ideally Verilog/System Verilog.
  • An innovative and creative mindset with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to create, measure, and evaluate tradeoffs between micro-architectural solutions to optimize for power, frequency and area.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively in a team to get things done in a fast-paced environment.

What we’ll offer:

At Ampere we believe in taking care of our employees and providing a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $163,100 and $271,900, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $171,800 and $286,300. We offer an annual bonus program tied to internal company goals and annual meritocratic equity awards that enable our employees to participate in the success of the company.

Our benefits include health, wellness, and financial programs that support employees through every stage of life, with full benefits eligibility at 20 hours per week. Benefits highlights include:
  • Premium medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, as well as income protection and a 401(k) retirement plan, so that you can feel secure in your health and financial future.
  • Unlimited Flextime and 10+ paid holidays so that you can embrace a healthy work-life balance.
  • A variety of healthy snacks, energizing espresso, and refreshing drinks to keep you fueled and focused throughout the day.

We are passionate about inventing industry leading cloud-native designs that contribute to a more sustainable future. We are excited to share more about our career opportunities with you through the interview process.
