As a Field Engineer , you are the construction site engineering resource and expertise throughout the construction of a project. You will be responsible for interpreting designs, adjusting designs to meet site conditions per protocol, managing technical issues, performing quality inspections, monitoring technical submittals, and ensuring configuration management. With your engineering discipline focus, you will support construction supervision and final technical approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications. You will make decisions regarding methods independently, and working with the Construction Managers, apply financial commitment authority for field changes. You will be responsible for completing assigned tasks under minimal supervision and technical direction.

Location
Although headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas, our Nuclear district has projects that span across the entire US. Our projects may be built in large cities, small towns, or very remote locations, so our people must be willing to go where the work is. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Field engineers may do rotations between the field and office work. Candidate must be open to traveling and relocating as business requires.
Responsibilities
Provides technical support in all phases of estimating, construction formation, project execution, testing/inspection, and project closeout.
Maintains records of installed quantities and completed construction work.
Participates in obtaining any required permits/clearances, lockouts, Escort Agreements, and work authorizations prior to commencing work on site.
Performs verification of work in progress to ensure requirements of safety, security, quality (technical drawings and specifications), environmental control, workmanship, and schedule are met.
Assists in the preparation of procedures, administrative and technical documents.
May prepare/approve purchase requisitions for materials and services.
Review Lessons Learned and collaborate with corporate personnel, and other corporate partner projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering or related degree
Aptitude in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability
Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.
Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principles.
Knowledge of construction safety
Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right
Eligibility for this position requires sole US citizenship; the successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site
Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check
All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment
Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable
