Electrical Engineering Technologist

KLD Labs, a high-tech engineering firm specializing in laser-based machine vision products for the railway industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our Electrical Engineering (EE) Department. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles, hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Apply basic electrical engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complete assignments under technical supervision.
2. Work independently or in conjunction with the KLD Engineering team to install, test, and troubleshoot systems and devices.
3. Produce and maintain design, test, and production documents.
4. Utilize various electronic test equipment effectively.
5. Build, troubleshoot, and test electronic prototypes.
6. Demonstrate high proficiency in using Windows-based PCs and Microsoft Office.
7. Read and interpret schematics and wire diagrams using schematic capture.
8. Specify electronic parts and enter them into a database.
9. Coordinate with on-site managers to ensure proper system and device installation.
10. Provide customer support both onsite and remotely.
11. Resolve customer issues through effective communication and troubleshooting.

Qualifications Required (Skills)

Education and Experience:

Minimum: Associate's degree (AS) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology and 4 years' experience
Preferred: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology and 2 years' experience.

Qualifications Desired

• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, both in the US and abroad
