As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our existing systems, developing new features, and ensuring scalability and performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and utilize your strong technical skills to contribute to our success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with the development team on backend architecture, framework upgrades, and new feature implementation.
2. Manage technical debt by maintaining, upgrading, and enhancing our backend systems while contributing to new functionality.
3. Assist in the analysis and decision-making process regarding framework upgrades or transitions to optimize scalability and performance.
4. Ensure our backend systems are scalable, secure, and performant to handle increasing client demands.
5. Work with product managers, frontend developers, and designers to align backend systems with business objectives and project goals.
6. Optimize the backend infrastructure and ensure smooth operation in a cloud environment (AWS).
7. Contribute to code quality, best practices, and continuous improvements in backend development.

Required Skills:

1. Strong experience with PHP and frameworks like CodeIgniter (5+ years), backend architecture, web development principles, system optimization, PostgreSQL, and scaling applications in AWS or other cloud environments.
2. Familiarity with other PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
3. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 4-8 years of proven work experience as a Backend Developer or similar role.
3. Strong understanding of both maintaining legacy systems and delivering new functionality in an agile environment.
4. Experience working on projects that have scaled significantly over time.
5. Fluent in written and verbal English communication.
