Role Description
This full-time Senior Lighting Designer role is a hybrid role, implying that the role is located in the New York City Metropolitan Area but some work from home is acceptable. As a Senior Lighting Designer at MRD Lighting, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing lighting solutions for different commercial industries. Your day-to-day tasks will include collaborating with clients, architects, interior designers, and other stakeholders to plan and implement lighting designs that meet the clients’ needs. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior designers and work in conjunction with our Lead Designers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Lighting Design (or equivalent years of experience)
Must be a legal US resident and authorized to work in the US. No work visa’s will be provided.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in designing and developing lighting systems and solutions
Solid understanding of building/electrical codes and regulations relating to lighting systems
Strong technical knowledge of lighting fixtures, controls, and LED technology
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
Proficiency in design software such as AGi32, SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign
Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is a must
Experience with project management and leading a team of designers
Lighting certification (such as LC, LEED, or CLEP) is a plus
Experience in commercial or hospitality industries is a plus
