AWS DevOps Engineer

Primary Location: Plano, Texas

V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for an AWS DevOps Engineer for our premier client in Plano, Texas .


Education And Experience

  1. 5 years' experience in Information Technology, 2-3+ years in an Architecture environment.
  2. Should have achieved mastery in one of the SecDevops practices - IaC-Terraform, Cloud-AWS, CICD-Git/Argo, microservices architecture deployment (primarily Kubernetes) with awareness about site reliability engineering principles, coupled with a willingness to learn and expand the knowledge.
  3. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  4. Experience with source control and continuous integration tools.
  5. Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  6. Good experience with cloud services (AWS), cloud engineering, architecture, and software as a service. Hands-on experience in AWS Services - IAM, VPC, EKS, CloudFront, APIGW.
  7. Ability to work in fast paced teams with quick decision making.
  8. Scripting experience with Bash/Shell, Python.
  9. Experience in IaC - Terraform is a must have.
  10. CI (preferably Gitlab CI) and CD (preferably Argo CD).
  11. Kubernetes debugging experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  1. Infrastructure as code is a must have. Good understanding on AWS, terraform.
  2. SecDevops practices - IaC-Terraform, Cloud-AWS, CICD-Git/Argo these are the most important.

Top 3-5 skills (Must Haves):

  1. Master in one of the SecDevops practices - IaC-Terraform, Cloud-AWS, CICD-Git/Argo, microservices architecture deployment (primarily Kubernetes) with awareness about site reliability engineering principles, coupled with a willingness to learn and expand the knowledge.
  2. Perform as an accountable resource and take ownership on assigned projects and tasks for delivery with quality and in a timely manner using Agile/JIRA best practices.
  3. Partner with application teams as a trusted advisor to ensure compliance and adoption of organizational SecDevops standards, processes, and industry best-practices for developing and deploying microservices in public cloud environments.

Preferred:

  1. Cloud Platform Engineering team manages several tool stacks, if someone has expertise in more than one of the below, that’d be a great asset - AWS - ECS, EC2, S3, SNS, SQS, MKS, Batch, Lambda, Cognito, SG, RDS, Cert Manager, Route 53, ALB, Param Store, Config, etc.
  2. IaC: Terraform - Preferred, CloudFormation.
  3. CI & CD: GitLab - Preferred, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, Serverless.
  4. Secrets Management: HCP Vault, AWS Secrets Manager.
  5. Networking: Transit GW, VPC Peering, NAT, Istio, Traefik, HCP Consul, Nginx, Section.io, etc.
  6. Scripting: Python, GO, Bash/Shell, JavaScript, YAML, JSON.
  7. Build Tools: Maven, Gradle, NPM, Bazel, Go.
  8. Databases: RDS, SQL, MySQL, Postgres, RedShift, MongoDB, DynamoDB.
  9. Security Scans: SAST, Secrets, Container, DAST, Xray, Prisma Cloud.
  10. Logging and Monitoring: DataDog, Splunk, App Dynamics, ELK, Grafana.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Write well-defined and tested code (IaC - Terraform) and Build pipeline (Good CICD experience) to enforce standards, frameworks, and architecture principles for the connected vehicle program.
  2. Perform as an individual contributor and colleague who enjoys collaborating with, learning from, and mentoring program team members on security disciplines to bolster overall security posture to lower the business risk profile.
  3. Deployment, automation, management, and maintenance of AWS cloud-based production system.
  4. Adapt new technologies, tools, processes from the organization as needed.
  5. Communicate well with team members and work collaboratively.
  6. Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes.
  7. Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of AWS production systems.
  8. Management of creation, release, and configuration of production systems.
  9. System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various application domains and platforms.
