Electrical rule checking (ERC) is a methodology used to check the robustness of a design both at schematic and layout levels against various "electronic design rules". We are looking for a highly motivated software quality engineer to join the team responsible for verification and testing of Calibre’s Programmable Electronic Rule Checking (PERC) product. This product performs circuit verification for electrostatic discharge, electrical overstress, signals crossing multiple power domains, and other advanced ERC operations.
You will be part of a team responsible for testing, debugging, and qualifying software releases and updates. Quality assurance responsibilities will involve the design, development, and execution of PERC functional and regression tests used to measure correctness, robustness, performance, and overall quality. You will collaborate with senior software engineers, quality assurance specialists, marketing, and customer support professionals to help deliver timely product releases that meet our customer’s needs. Through leadership and innovation, develop procedures and tools needed to improve the QA process and assist developers in design trade-offs and risk analysis assessments.
This job requires the candidate to make immediate contributions to the team.
- The candidate should have strong software skills and testing abilities and have knowledge of the CAD/CAE industry.
- The ideal candidate should also exhibit the following behavioral traits:
• An innate desire to learn new things and quickly assimilate knowledge
• Strong team player with solid interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work on assignments independently or with small teams
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to break software and a curiosity of how things work.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Technical degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 3-7+ years of experience in the EDA or IC design industry.
• At least 5 years in SW Quality Assurance with solid programming skills.
• Extensive Linux or Unix operating system experience.
• Shell Scripting experience (e.g., bash, ksh, csh, Perl, Python, Tcl).
• Familiar with using defect tracking systems and source code control systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Domain knowledge of circuit reliability issues such as floating nodes, contention, over/under-voltage, cross-domain leakage, and layout effects.
• Experience writing analysis tools to capture performance metrics under different scenarios such as memory footprint, processor utilization, IO traffic, and pinpointing inefficient algorithms.
• Familiar with SPICE netlist formats.
• Exposure to CAD/CAE environments such as:
- EDA verification tools like DRC, LVS, Parasitic Extraction, and netlisting tools.
- EDA full custom layout tools/place and route tools.
