We are seeking a Freelance Senior WordPress Developer for an exciting project beginning part-time in January and February 2025, with full-time work from March through July 2025.
Type: Contract (Starting off as part-time)
Location : Hybrid, Chicago
Pay Range : $45-50/hr.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build a custom WordPress website that’s easy for novice administrators to edit and straightforward for other developers to maintain.
- Develop code in accordance with project requirements using HTML, CSS/LESS/SASS, XML/JSON, AJAX, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Extend frameworks like Bootstrap to ensure efficient code theming and customization (note: we do not use React, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Design, create, and manage relational databases using MySQL.
- Collaborate with the creative, UX, and tech lead to determine best practices for programming on each project.
- Conduct quality control and testing to ensure proper functionality, troubleshoot development issues, and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
- Optimize website performance, including load times and server response, and ensure the website complies with accessibility standards.
- Adhere to version control policies and follow best practices for code versioning using Git.
Requirements:
- Expertise in front-end development techniques, and configuring/customizing WordPress.
- Experience with PHP, HTML, XML, JavaScript, and a basic understanding of database design.
- Strong understanding of UX for web and mobile experiences.
- Experience working with custom themes and ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) in WordPress.
- Proven ability to translate designs from tools like XD and Figma into functional, responsive websites.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing WordPress websites.
- A portfolio showcasing a range of development projects with a focus on translating designs into WordPress.
