GovCIO is currently hiring for a remote Senior Cloud Migration Engineer with an Active Secret clearance (able to hold Top Secret).

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop cloud migration strategies.
2. Perform comprehensive assessments of existing on-premises systems, applications, and infrastructure to identify migration requirements and dependencies.
3. Design and implement migration plans, including selecting the appropriate cloud platform, defining resource requirements, and establishing migration timelines.
4. Coordinate and execute the migration of applications, data, and infrastructure to cloud-based environments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
5. Monitor and troubleshoot migration activities, addressing any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the process.
6. Optimize the performance, scalability, and security of cloud infrastructure by implementing best practices and leveraging cloud-native services.
7. Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans for cloud-based environments.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce cloud security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
9. Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams regarding cloud technologies, tools, and best practices.
10. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud computing and migration strategies, and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
11. Execute the migration plan, which may involve migrating data, applications, and workloads to the cloud, as well as configuring and testing the new environment.
12. Troubleshoot any problems that arise.

Qualifications

1. High School with 10+ years of cloud migration engineering experience (or commensurate experience).
2. Proven experience as a Cloud Migration Engineer or a similar role, with a track record of successfully executing cloud migration projects.
3. 3+ years of experience in cloud computing.
4. Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
5. Familiarity with cloud migration tools, methodologies, and best practices.
6. Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and infrastructure concepts.
7. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for automation and infrastructure provisioning.
8. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
9. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
10. Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.
11. Relevant virtualization certifications (e.g., VMware VCAP, Microsoft Enterprise Administrator Expert) are a plus.
12. Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts.
13. Clearance Required: Active Secret clearance.
