Senior Director, Software Engineering

Position Summary:

About Team:
We are on the cusp of building out a major platform that will power Walmart's brokerage initiative. The right candidate will be on the front-side of this initiative helping influence and shape the platform. We are a fortune 1 company, however we have to execute like a startup. If you have a passion for building new platforms and a background in transportation brokerage, this role might be what you're looking for.

What you'll do:

• Own, influence, and execute product roadmaps for key growth areas.
• Work with a team of Architects and Tech Leads to define, own and implement the technology strategy for providing deep insights and recommendations to drive growth.
• Manage the engineering organization through other directors and senior engineering managers.
• Hire talent, mentor and grow the team.
• Drive end-to-end solutions across the supply chain.
• Drive and measure operational and engineering excellence across the organization.
• Partner with other functional leaders to build and accelerate roadmap.
• Proactively monitor, identify, and resolve customer issues.

What you'll bring:

• Experience in Data, developing Platforms (frontend and backend) and distributed systems.
• Strong senior level engineering leadership expertise in medium to large size company.
• Proven experience in hiring and mentoring world-class engineering teams.
• Leading large-scale systems in fast-paced environments; startup experience is a plus.
• Expertise in multiple distributed technologies (e.g. Spark/Storm, Kafka, Microservices, etc.).
• Experience in one or more public cloud technologies like GCP, Azure, etc.
• Experience in working in large teams using CI/CD and agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 15+ years of industry experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 9 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
4 years' supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
