Job Summary:
The Civil Engineering Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of each designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing duties personally or through subordinates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consults with client to determine project requirements
- Reviews project proposal or scope to determine time frame, fees, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of personnel
- Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
- Reviews status of project with project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required, communicating with management, clients, or others regarding status updates and schedule changes
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
- Prepares and reviews design calculations and project construction documents for compliance with project scope and development regulations
- Coordinates project activities with client, contractor and government regulatory agencies
- Understands and promotes site safety requirements for construction sites
- Supports and communicates with other team members throughout all stages of the design and construction process
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret
- Ability to write effective reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and/or architects
- Possesses a firm understanding of engineering design for all aspects of site development along with current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes and regulations
- Embraces teamwork approach
- Must possess strong technical skills
- Must demonstrate expertise in project design, flow and management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD and other discipline specific software
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
- Valid discipline-specific license in Virginia is required
- Valid Virginia driver's license is required
